Last week, we launched a brand-new website for GLCS, a demolition company looking to stand out in a field that often plays it safe. The site was designed on Wix with a focus on building trust, attracting contractors, and showcasing the company’s bold, no-nonsense approach to getting the job done.
But before the first line of code or layout was created, we started with the foundation: the logo.
Blowing Up the Box – Creative Concepting
GLCS came to me with no fixed direction for their branding—just a clear desire: “We don’t want generic.” That opened the door for some truly creative exploration.
Early concepts included high-energy visuals and even a mascot—Derek the Demolition Deer—an over-the-top idea meant to shake loose from the typical “hard hat and hammer” branding.

These wild ideas weren’t meant to be the final product—they were about getting out of the usual lane and finding something with real character.
From there, we pulled things back a bit and tried a more grounded symbol: a circular saw, a common tool in the field. While the concept was solid, it still didn’t deliver the punch the client was hoping for.
Strength in Simplicity – Typography as Identity
In the end, we went with something that many in the demolition industry turn to—strong, bold typography. There’s a reason this approach works: it communicates confidence, clarity, and professionalism. For a company that tears things down for a living, the logo needed to feel solid and unshakable.

To keep it from feeling too sterile, the client added their signature touch: a bright blue that brings energy and visibility to the brand. It’s memorable without being flashy—a perfect fit.
Designing in Tandem – Logo + Website
Logo and website were developed side-by-side, which can be a challenge when branding is still in flux. Thankfully, Wix’s flexible design system made it easy to adjust on the fly. Setting and tweaking primary/secondary color schemes from a central menu allowed us to adapt quickly as the brand identity evolved.
The site’s primary goal? Build confidence. GLCS often hires contractors and seasonal crews, and they wanted their site to help those visitors feel like they’re in good hands. The final design is clean, mobile-friendly, and visually aligned with their bold new identity.
